A raven – bearing in its beak a pearl and sitting atop a lantern – is an artwork that amazes
with its realism. The extent to which tiny details are elaborated in ebony-work leaves the
beholder with no other emotional option than profound admiration.
In many world cultures, the raven symbolizes wisdom, longevity, well-being, and an ability to
foresee future events. This bird is, in addition, recognized as one of the most intelligent
representatives of the animal kingdom.
Ebony is the black tree which grows in the humid tropical forests of Africa and Asia, and it belongs to the rarest and the most valuable wood species. Very hard and heavy, drowning in water, it requires special continuous processing, special drying conditions, before it becomes suitable for carving and making artworks.
Pear wood is malleable material for artistic carving, it is well polished and has a sufficient density, which allows you to work out the smallest details. Only high quality pear wood of warm pink hues is used in the artworks by Olmart.

Pearls are very fragile and delicate material, and, considering the unique process of its formation, perhaps the most unusual one, because the living creature – the mollusk – participates in the process of creating the pearl. Olmart House uses in its artworks natural sea pearls of the highest quality only.
